Media recs

  • Severance - It's Lost meets The Office with the best cinematography. Intriguing mystery box.
  • Children's books by Lucy Cousins - My son's favorite author/illustrator as far as I can tell. Hooray for Fish is a banger in our house. Full of whimsy, color, and fun.
  • Station Eleven, The Glass Hotel & The Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel - One of the top five living novelists IMO. Read these in this order and thank me later.
  • Escaping Flatland by Hernrik Karlsson - The best Swedish dad blogger. A philosophical newsletter that I love reading.
  • Short stories — Like short films, people should consume more short stories. Make them part of your regular media diet when you're not doomscrolling. Here are some of my favs: George Saunders, Etgar Keret, Kelly Link, Jorge Luis Borges, Ken Liu, Alice Munro, Ted Chiang.
